Sip a beverage and learn some cool shit.

Ida Harbin has "the scoop." Four reporters. Four behind-the-scenes stories. This talk explores the delicate relationships and reporting that shapes audio journalism, with stories that have appeared on Reveal, NPR, and On Air Fest.

Together we’ll travel from the Iraq War, to the Federal ICE raids in Minneapolis, to COVID-19 in New York City, and right into the fight for equity in women’s college basketball at the University of Oregon. Through these stories, I’ll highlight the human connections, trust, and on-the-ground reporting that make deeply reported audio storytelling possible.

Featured journalists: Emily Harris - NPR; Artis Curiskis - Mother Jones; Remoy Philip - Bad Coolie Productions; Ida Hardin - Freelance

Your ticket also raises funds for Uplift Local, an organization helping rebuild local journalism from the ground up, training people in rural Washington and Oregon to become citizen reporters. In a moment when local news is disappearing across the country, their work feels both urgent and hopeful.

Arrive 10-15 minutes early. Check in at the bar and get your beverage.
